MERIDEN WALLINGFORD SCRABBLE CHALLENGE
March 4, 2008
Chevrolet Theatre
200 people joined together to eat pizza and play competitive Scrabble at the 5th annual Scrabble Challenge in Wallingford. Séan Moore and Jim Ieronimo, along with “Magilla” from WPLR Radio and Mayors Bill Dickinson and Mark Benigni helped raise more than $17,800 for Literacy Volunteers.
All the players enjoyed themselves, but at the end of the night the teams representing the Town of Wallingford took home the Town Trophy for scoring the most points. The Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield team, comprised of Karen Mordecai, Christine Higgins, Beth Gilbert and Lisa Daley came in first in the Friends & Family category, with Betsey DuBois, Dot Mut, Dawn Papallo and Tina Fabiana from Midstate Medical Center coming in second.
Special thanks to Eliot White and the Record-Journal for serving as the Presenting Sponsor for the event. We also are grateful to the Alphabet Sponsors; Fosdick Corporation, Pyramid Technologies and Ulbrich Stainless Steels and to Literary Sponsors AT&T, Midstate Medical, Regan Technologies, Sylvan Learning Center, Tomassetti Distributors, Town Fair Tire and the Wadsworth Family Foundation.
